Gerry Goddard's book: Transpersonal Theory & the Astrological Mandala: An Evolutionary Model

NOTE: December 2007 - As an astrologer, Gerry timed the placing of the completed manuscript of his book Transpersonal Theory & the Astrological Mandala: An Evolutionary Model on the internet in accordance with transits in his chart. Exactly 24 hours after posting this manuscript--- thirteen years in the writing -- Gerry suffered a massive aortic dissection followed soon afterward by a devastating stroke that caused his death on November 19, 2007. He was 64 years old at the time of his death and, previous to the day of his collapse, had been in seemingly good health.

Since the nature of synchronicity is at the foundation of both Astrology and Transpersonal Theory, the appearance of his book on-line followed so soon by his demise contributes a mysterious poetry and grace to the tragic event of his death. As his editor and spouse, I wanted to share this experience with those who have admired and followed his work through the years.

NOTE: April 2, 2009 - As soon as Gerry was gone I knew that I needed to honour his intellectual legacy by publishing a hard copy memorial edition of Transpersonal Theory and the Astrological Mandala. This project is now underway and his manuscript is being prepared for publication at this time. I'll be posting updates here with further information...

Transpersonal Theory & the Astrological Mandala Drawing on the work of transpersonal theorists Stanislav Grof, Ken Wilber, Michael Washburn, Richard Tarnas and others, Gerry Goddard's book Transpersonal Theory and the Astrological Mandala: An Evolutionary Model (on-line as of - November 16, 2007) offers a transpersonal synthesis—an account of history, culture and consciousness mapped in terms of the deep dialectical logic of the astrological mandala.

Now accessible on-line in its entirety—23 chapters plus an Appendix— TTAM by no means seeks to prove the objective validity of astrology nor does it require a prior knowledge of astrology. For the non-astrologer, easily accessible information on the standard basic meanings and axial relations of the twelve principles is provided in a single brief chapter.

For those for whom the astrological jury is still out, this work can be approached as an evolutionary transpersonal model which effectively engages the mandalic deep structure as an heuristic. For those who find that astrology (as transit and natal astrology) does in fact work, this model—an interface of the transpersonal and the astrological—stands as a confirmation of the concrete unity of cosmos, body, psyche and spirit beyond mere subjective constructivism.
